As you watch our videos, keep in mind that we were a “show“ band. I wrote our drills and most of the music by hand (and ear) and our shows were meant to appeal to other students and “moms & dads”, not competition judges. If you remember, our Lely bands performed three totally different marching shows each year and you generally had two weeks to learn the show with memorized music and drill.

We sometimes had 6:15am morning practices before 1st period, which was band, and many of you came wearing your pajamas. Often, you’d be given the music on Monday and you’d have it memorized and performance ready by Friday night. We took great pride in doing that. This was my first district festival show

This was my last halftime show at Lely High School. One of the things I love about it is the spontaneous dancing done by the cheerleaders.
